About the Author

Hello, I'm R' Sofia Freudenstein. I graduated from Yeshivat Maharat, the first school to ordain women through an Orthodox semikhah rabbinic curriculum, and completed my master’s degree in Jewish Philosophy at Yeshiva University’s Bernard Revel Graduate School. I am the Director of Jewish Life and Learning for the Jewish Community of Helsinki in Finland, and have been honoured to teach as a scholar-in-residence or as faculty in Paris, Berlin, London, and Stockholm. I am ridiculously blessed to have received a grant from the Bronfman Alumni Venture Fund to pursue my adventures here in the Nordics and Europe in general and get to put them on "paper".

When not travelling, I enjoy connecting with people, birdwatching, and learning to play the kantele (the Finnish harp).

You are welcome to reach out to me at sofiayfreudenstein@gmail.com with thoughts, challenges, and more! I am also available to contact for opportunities to share my experience and Torah with your communities, classrooms, and synagogues.
